The Musical Theatre Dunedin Board take the health and wellbeing of our audiences, cast, creatives, production crew and contractors very seriously, and in light of recent developments the upcoming season of Les Misérables, that was to be performed at the Regent Theatre in May, must be postponed.
We understand there will be a lot of disappointment with this announcement, however our primary consideration must be the wellbeing of the wider community. This is in line with the latest COVID-19 advice regarding cancelling inside gatherings and public events of 100 or more people.
Hand in hand (or is that elbow to elbow) with our funders and our creative team, there is still a lot of detail to work through to see when Les Misérables will be able to be performed in Dunedin. At this stage we are looking to 2021. We would like to believe the COVID-19 crisis will be short-lived, but the reality is a guessing game. We will continue to provide updates as things develop.
Existing ticket holders will be entitled to a full refund of their tickets. Given the number of event cancellations in recent days, our customers will need to be patient while the ticketing agencies cope with the additional workload. Ticket holders will be emailed initially setting out the process.
Thank you for your understanding. Please stay safe and follow all health advice provided by Government agencies in this time of national turmoil.
